Rookiefeed

TruckerDB alternative: new MC authorities, not just new DOT numbers

Reviewed · Numbers are Rookiefeed analysis as of , updated daily

TruckerDB and Rookiefeed both send a 7am list of new trucking companies, but they track different things. TruckerDB lists new USDOT registrations, about 15,000 a month including private and intrastate fleets. Rookiefeed lists for-hire carriers whose MC operating authority was just granted, about 5,591 a month, each with its insurer and coverage on file.

Why the difference matters

A new USDOT number is the first step. Many never become for-hire carriers: after FMCSA added identity checks in 2025, only about 30% of new applications were published, according to CarrierOk's analysis reported by FreightWaves. A granted MC authority means the carrier can legally haul freight for pay this week, which is when it picks a factor, a dispatcher and insurance.

That is why the first-time flag and the insurer matter: a factoring rep can skip returning carriers that likely already have a factor, and an insurance agent can see who wrote the authority's first policy.

Questions

Is Rookiefeed cheaper than TruckerDB?
No. TruckerDB starts at $49 a month. Rookiefeed is $59 a month for one state once a week, $149 for one state every day, $299 for up to 8 states and $599 for every state, and you can cancel any time. The difference is what's on the list: granted MC authorities with insurance and fleet details, rather than every new DOT registration.
Can I try Rookiefeed before paying?
