# TruckerDB alternative: new MC authorities, not just new DOT numbers

> TruckerDB and Rookiefeed both send a 7am list of new trucking companies, but they track different things. TruckerDB lists new USDOT registrations, about 15,000 a month including private and intrastate fleets. Rookiefeed lists for-hire carriers whose MC operating authority was just granted, about 5,591 a month, each with its insurer and coverage on file.

## Why the difference matters

A new [USDOT number](https://rookiefeed.com/glossary/usdot-number) is the first step. Many never become [for-hire carriers](https://rookiefeed.com/glossary/for-hire-carrier): after FMCSA added identity checks in 2025, only about 30% of new applications were published, according to CarrierOk's analysis reported by FreightWaves. A granted MC authority means the carrier can legally haul freight for pay this week, which is when it picks a factor, a dispatcher and insurance.

That is why the first-time flag and the insurer matter: a factoring rep can skip returning carriers that likely already have a factor, and an insurance agent can see who wrote the authority's first policy.

## When TruckerDB is the better pick

- You sell to every new DOT holder, including private and intrastate fleets (DOT compliance, some equipment and software sales).
- You want the lowest price per lead and don't need insurance or fleet details.
- You sell insurance renewals to established carriers (TruckerDB's renewal-date predictions).

## When Rookiefeed is the better pick

- You fund, dispatch or insure carriers that just got [operating authority](https://rookiefeed.com/glossary/operating-authority).
- You want the insurer and coverage on file, fleet size, equipment and a first-time flag on every row.
- You'd rather get a CSV in your inbox at 7am than log in to a dashboard.

## Questions

No. TruckerDB starts at $49 a month. Rookiefeed is $59 a month for one state once a week, $149 for one state every day, $299 for up to 8 states and $599 for every state, and you can cancel any time. The difference is what's on the list: granted MC authorities with insurance and fleet details, rather than every new DOT registration.

Yes. Download 10 real rows from the latest day, or use the free list builder to get up to 25 new carriers in your states emailed as a CSV.
